Does The Atopic March Occur Equally in Both Genders?
Summary
These data were obtained from the ongoing Multicenter Allergy Study (MAS). The objective of this analysis of the MAS data was to examine the role of infantile eczema as a predictor for the risk of childhood asthma.
A total of 620 infants with a family history of allergic disease was recruited. Complete data was available for 403 children. Eczema within the first two years of life was clearly associated with an increased risk of childhood asthma in boys, but not in girls.
