Cost Effectiveness of Omalizumab in the Treatment of Asthma

Summary
Omalizumab is clearly an effective therapy for allergic asthma. However, it is expensive compared to other agents, and its cost effectiveness has been questioned. The authors of this study concluded that in selected patients who are not controlled despite high dose inhaled corticosteroids plus a long-acting beta-adrenergic agent, the cost effectiveness of omalizumab compares well with other therapies.
